Pratik Gandhi
Born in Surat on 28 April 1980 to a family of teachers, Pratik Gandhi trained as an industrial engineer at North Maharashtra University, Jalgaon (2004), and spent a decade holding day jobs — first at the National Productivity Council in Satara and Pune (2004–07), then at Reliance Infrastructure's cement division in Mumbai (January 2008–2016) — while building a parallel life in Gujarati theatre. He debuted on stage in 2005 with Aa Paar Ke Pele Paar and took on dense character work in Apurva Avsar (2007, six roles), Saat Tari Akvees (2008–09), Bohot Nachyo Gopal (2012, as Krishna), Ame Badha Sathe To Duniya Laiye Mathe (2013, seven characters) and Sir Sir Sarla (2018); his earliest screen credits were Sridhar Rangayan's English indie Yours Emotionally (2006) and 68 Pages (2007). Manoj Shah spotted him on tour and cast him in two solo plays that defined his stage craft — Hu Chandrakant Bakshi (2013), inhabiting the controversial Gujarati writer, and Mohan No Masalo (2015), where he played the young Mohandas Gandhi in Gujarati, Hindi and English on the same day, earning a Limca Book of Records entry. In Gujarati cinema he broke through as Tapan 'Tino' in Abhishek Jain's Bey Yaar (2014), led the National Award–winning Wrong Side Raju (2016), and anchored Tamburo and Love Ni Bhavai (2017), Ventilator (2018), Dhunki and Gujarat 11 (2019), and Luv Ni Love Storys (2020), with Hindi crossovers in Loveyatri and Mitron (2018). Scam 1992: The Harshad Mehta Story (SonyLIV, 2020) — Hansal Mehta's biographical drama in which he played stockbroker Harshad Mehta — made him a national sensation; his follow-ups include Bhavai (2021, originally Raavan Leela), Atithi Bhooto Bhava, Kahani Rubberband Ki and Vaahlam Jaao Ne (2022), the OHO Gujarati web series Vitthal Teedi (2021), Modern Love Mumbai's 'Baai' episode and The Great Indian Murder (2022), a Scoop cameo (2023), the Spotify crime podcast Gangistan (2021–22, 48 episodes), and a 2024 run of Madgaon Express, Do Aur Do Pyaar, Dedh Bigha Zameen and Agni. In 2025 he led Dhoom Dhaam, the Jyotirao Phule biopic Phule, and Netflix's espionage drama Saare Jahan Se Accha: The Silent Guardians; on the slate are the Taapsee Pannu co-starrer Woh Ladki Hai Kahaan?, the Saif Ali Khan–led Netflix election drama Hum Hindustani, and a return to Mahatma Gandhi as lead in Hansal Mehta's multi-season Gandhi series for Applause Entertainment. Gandhi still calls Manoj Shah between film projects to perform shows.
