Critics' Choice: Kundan Shah on Master Phoolmani

I saw the Gujarati play Master Phulmani the other day, and found it so outstanding that I went back to watch it again the next day.

Directed by Manoj Shah, it follows the musical format, with all the actors singing their own songs.

What I found most interesting was that it also followed the age-old tradition of the audiences shouting 'Encore' and the actors singing the song once again in response. And every time they repeated a song, they added a new verse to it, so it didn't get repetitive either.
